We worked in L.A. for 15 years. Highlights:

Wim Wenders noticing the abundant bottles of liquid paper in our edit bays and asking as he held one aloft, “Digital editing tool?”

Richard Simmons liked my hair. A lot. He wanted to run his fingers through it. Or so he said. I decided to cut it instead.

Watching Prince get up from the couch in the back of the suite and march up to the mixer (in his cute little heels) at the console to loudly proclaim “Dude!” Followed by a confused look from the audio guy at the console, followed by a monotone expressionless explanation from Prince’s manager, “Prince likes the mix.”

We also have Chicago experience. Broad shouldered hog butcher something or other. (What the hell was Carl Sandburg on anyway?) Chicago has another thing going that L.A. doesn’t. People who will break your legs for making silly comments. Understand? Good. Enough said about Chicago.

We’re now in the Pacific NW. It’s greener. And it’s grayer. People waxed poetic about how it would be paradise up here. It’s actually greener and it’s grayer. And there are a lot of fixie bikes. And pirates. I wish I was kidding about the pirates. And the gray. Work is good though. And the people are lovely. Except for the pirates of course. Men who do not butcher hogs should not wear scarves. Just a strongly felt opinion.
